ZZ Top /
Greatest Hits I know...I know. What is this even doing here, in the 1990s ? I was all set to add this into my top 10 of the 1980s, when it occured to me that this wasn't released until 1992. Duh. But, these 'old' 'Top songs, some with a new sound, and some old songs with a modern style, just rocks my socks.Off.Ask my neighbors. Amazon Half.com |

Depeche Mode /
Violator This is another album, that I would characterize as the 80s sound. 1990. Depeche Mode Violator is the only DM album I own, apart from their Singles collection. Their music has always sparked my interests, and the songs just beckon you to listen. This music does not sound like any other album in our collection. Amazon Half.com |

Ace Of Base /
The Sign Ace of Base made their 'big splash' in the mid 1990s. I had just bought my first portable CD player, and I really took a liking to The Sign. Especially with the DBB switched on. I still love the album. Amazon Half.com |

Real McCoy /
Another Night Real McCoys Another Night was when I started taking off the headphones, and turned up the music on the 'big' speakers. By now, you recognize that slow, soothing grooves are far more suited to my tastes than heavy metal or hip-hop. I have enough energy as it is, without someones music building me up. That just gets me into trouble. Heh. Amazon Half.com |

Madonna /
Ray of Light Ray of Light pretty much defines where Madonna dropped the flirty,Boy-Toy routine, and went after what she truly enjoyed - making people dance. And listen. The influences, the instrumentation, the positive enrgy flowed, and we just soaked up every note. Amazon Half.com |

Janet Jackson /
janet. Obviously, by this time, my contemporary music tastes were toward whatever MTV/VH1 played. I had a superb collection of 70s and 80s music, and that is where most of my listening time went into. And well, Janet, why did you wait 15 years to show your tits ? Or did I miss something... Conversely, I probably should list her Design of a Decade album here instead, because it got more plays. Amazon Half.com |

Shania Twain /
Come On Over I was in my third major relocation of my life, and the people around me were into country music. Not the typical rock, or pop music that I was accustomed to. Shania, had sex appeal.Shania had great music, and pardon me, but is this really a country music star ? Nah. Shania was the biggest success story of the 1990s. CD sales were declining,Napster was huge, and record companies were in a tight spot. This lady, all by herself, probably saved the music industry as we know it today. Amazon Half.com |

Aqua /
Aquarium What can be said;I'm a sucker for simple pop songs. Aqua was delicious.Like a fresh drink of. You know. This was my breakfast CD, for a couple of months. Why oh why...sugary sweet candy. Whether you describe Aquas' music as simple, bubble gum, or european, it does have appeal. Amazon Half.com |

Air /
Moon Safari Honestly, I had not heard of Air until probably 2004 . We just played the music again and again.Obvious, the instruments are well orchestrated into a kind of retro-sound. Combined with the simple, heartfelt lyrics, these songs bring about that 'good for the soul' feeling. Amazon Half.com |

Despina Vandi /
Profities And another album I didn't hear until after the new millenium.People will say this is Despinas best. Well, they aren't too far off.Because this is great music. While Profeities is not my personal favorite album from Despina, clearly this is some of the best true instrumentation in all of her albums. And don't get me wrong, I love Despina and Foibus music more than anyone else right now. She sets the standard. Amazon Half.com |

Selena /
Ones Watching the movie really inspired me to take an interest in Selenas' music. With my love of latin beats, and previous experience with Spanish language, there is little to stop me from enjoying this collection. Amazon Half.com |

The Spice Girls /
Spice When the Spice Girls first came around, they just plain got on my nerves! RRRgh. About 6 months later, is when I really started to appreciate what they had done for american pop music. Truly, they are something special. Amazon Half.com |

Dixie Chicks /
Wide Open Spaces Like I said, country was 'where it's at' in my new home of the 90s. The Dixie Chicks were a combination of great music, smooth vocals, and some pretty good looking women. I always shyed away when people would ask, which one is your favorite ? I didn't know their names. But that chick with the fiddle was sweet. And this is still a definite favorite album of mine. Enya /
The Memory of Trees I bought this CD used, just out of curiousity. The amazing sanctimony of these songs will haunt you. If this is Celtic music, then it is far more spiritual than I ever was in my entire life. Enya brings it home. Amazon Half.com |

E-Type /
The Explorer This was one E-Type that we had a hard time getting ahold of. After several tries,we won an auction on eBay. It is worth every penny, and more. Amazon |

Ace Of Base /
Flowers To me, this was the greatest scam of the 90s; the usa got Cruel Summer, while europe got Flowers. The songs on Flowers sounds twice as nice ,but there are people who prefer the Cruel summer versions. Maybe two versions is twice the fun. Amazon Half.com |
