Once every four years. Once every two years. That's it. What am I trying to say ... The Olympics ! We are free to draw our inspiration from the best of the olympic spirit. Thank you Beijing, and China for bringing us together for the 2008 summer olympic games. All things considered, the technology involved in these presentations is incredible. And thanks to NBC,MSNBC, and the USA Network for bringing the spirit of the games into my home. Americans have always had a great showing with our athletes.
The most amazing photo -

Nastia Liukin seems to have a cat-like sense of landing on her feet.
Although at times I was disappointed in the coverage, that fact that we get to watch such a spectacle at all is a priveledge we should not take for granted. As an american, I look forward to seeing the best of athletes of every nation. My tribute to the athletes, and these games are not quite over...

Athletics / Track

I silently cheered for Zivile Balciunaite (2372), while Paula Radcliffe (1825) led the way early on. It wasn't long before Constantina Tomescu Dita(2716) ran away from the pack and into a gold medal for Romania.

Dayron Robles took gold in the 110 hurdles, while Liu Xian dropped out.

Elena Isinbaeva sailed over the bar and into the world record books on her way to a gold medal for pole vaulting at Beijing

Lolo Jones was favored to win the 100 meter hurdles, when she clipped the 9th hurdle (of 10) and stumbled to a disappointing 7th-place finish.

Rashid Ramzi ran his way to gold in the 1500 meters.

Shelly-Ann Fraser ran a 10.78sec 100 meter dash to gold for Jamaica

Usain "Lighning" Bolt ran to a gold medal and defacto worlds fastest man title.

Gymnastics

He Kexin proved the Chinese women were some of the best in the world.

While 31 year old Oksana Chusovitina brought home a silver medal for Germany. Hong Un-Jong took the gold medal for North Korea in the Vault finals.

Despite the Russian women not winning any medals, the talent of Ksenia Semenova and her teammates bodes well for the future.

Sandra Izbasa won gold in the Floor routines,

and Romania took third in the team finals.

Team USA brought home the silver medal in the team finals.

Swimming

Naturally, I have seen to much of Michael Phelps to picture him here.Great job, Phelps!!!

At 41,Dara Torres(left) won silver in the 50m freestyle behind the gold medal winning Britta Steffen (center).

Volleyball

The team of Misty May-Treanor and Kerri Walsh continued their dominance of beach volleyball.

While indoors, we saw many great teams. Pictured: Cuba

Brazil and China

And finally, the american team has something to cheer about !

The BEST commercial had to be for Coca Cola = " If you bought a Coke in the last 80 years..." An incredible statement to bring the world together. Thank you fellas! And to each and every athlete who ever 'tried out' for the olympics: thank you for giving your 'all' and long live the wonderful memories !
